I have anticipated this moment for months, the day I arrive to Purdue University. It was a pleasant journey with a beautiful view of the nature. It rained heavily halfway through my journey and the rain subsided the moment I arrive to my new school. A timing so perfect.
As I unload my luggage from the bus, another van arrived to pick me up and send me to my destination which is at Meredith Hall. It was a free service provided by the school. The driver was a man probably in his mid-50s assisted me with my luggage and he was very friendly and I know this is a normal habit here in the states and it feels good to be in a conversation with a stranger. He was kind enough to follow me to the lobby to ensure that I get to check in without any problem before carrying the luggage to my room.

The campus buildings are mostly brick buildings and are usually below 5 storeys high.

The following day, I went to explore the campus to learn getting around by foot. Later that evening, I met with my student leader whom I met online. She was a Malaysian and she brought me to a tour around campus. Coincidentally, we met another student leader who was a Singaporean. She was very pleased to bump into me as I was one of the few students from Singapore. We were at the gym at that time and I was astonished by the size of it which was about the size of a football field. There was also a rock climbing wall and indoor soccer field.
I was invited to join the Singaporean girl for karaoke and also to meet the other Singaporeans. I have never been to a karaoke and I told her that I would join but not sing. It is funny how I do not join my friends for a karaoke session back in Singapore but I agreed quickly when I am over here. We were picked up by another Singaporean who had a car. The place was about 5 minutes off campus by car. There was also a cinema and many food outlets around the area.
I am grateful to meet the other Singaporeans and for the warm hospitality I received from them. Looking forward to more outings with them during my journey here.
