Christmas in California

It’s over.

The semester has ended and I’m leaving West Lafayette, ( pronounced as la fee yet) the place I call home for over 4 months.

My holiday officially begins. The first state on my list is California, located on the other side of America.

I spent 2 days in San Francisco, followed by Las Vegas for another 2 days and finally Los Angeles for 3 days.
San Francisco

The main attraction here is none other than the Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge isn’t made of gold unfortunately.  I decided to make this experience an unforgettable one by crossing the bridge using a bicycle.

The rain didn’t stop me from cycling and it was worth it even though I was soaking wet.

This city is also known for its steep streets.

Las Vegas

The reason I’m coming here is not to gamble or satisfy any pleasures.

There was a tour which was really cheap and it includes a 2 night stay in Vegas with a trip to the Grand Canyon. If there wasn’t a trip to the Grand Canyon, I wouldn’t go for this trip. Please trust me!

Anyway, luck wasn’t on my side as I was told by the tour guide that there would be a heavy snowfall which would affect the roads. I was devastated. I was really looking forward to visit this place. Looking on the bright side, this means that there is a good reason to visit the states in the near future.

I will just let the pictures describe my trip to Vegas

Los Angeles

I was welcomed at the train station by a man running from the security after stealing from another person. It happened too quickly and the next thing I saw was the guards pinning him on the floor.

I spent my first day at “six flags magic mountain.” It’s a world famous theme park with over 30 different rides. I’m not an enthusiast when it comes to roller coasters as I get motion sickness easily. I went on a few rides and I’m glad to experience it. I would have tried more rides if I don’t have this sickness.

The next day was spent in Hollywood and we went there on a Sunday after Christmas and it was a challenge to get past the crowd. There were people dressed up as celebrities and movie stars and it’s hard to tell the difference!

I really had a good time in California.

Speaking of California, I have a friend who’s like a brother to me, studying abroad in California for the spring semester. It was his dream to study abroad in the states and I’m glad he got accepted. His efforts during the last semester has finally paid off and it’s now his turn to enjoy as an exchange student. This also means that I could only see him after he comes back.

This is us before I came to USA
My time in America is coming to an end but stay tuned for another post on my travels !
