FULL SOLUTION

Step 1: Find the spring constant(k) by using static deflection equation(mg=kx, where           x = 0.1m)

Step 2: Use C.O.E to find the how much the spring is stretched. (Potential Energy(mgh) at the start = Elastic Energy(0.5kx² at the end) There is no kinetic energy as there is no velocity during both states.

Step 3:The tricky part is that the height(h) is (3+x) meters.

Step 4: From (1), k = 7840. Using this value in (2), x can be solved by quadratic equation (ax² + bx + c = 0)
