It is time to leap to the days of travelling solo. I bid farewell to my cousins in Amsterdam as they head home.
The adventure resumes as scheduled, with a taste of freedom as I move upwards geographically on the map .
With the abundance of travel options & my frugal spending habits, I decided it is time to experience a cross country bus ride.
Not so frugal after all
Having an open mind & setting lower expectations are key to a pleasant travel as there are bound to be differences and regulations in an environment different from home. If you want consistency, travelling might not be the best option.
While travelling on buses in western countries, I noticed that there isn’t any seating arrangement which could be decided prior to the trip. While it might seem uncomfortable to some, I find it convenient to have 1 less decision to make in life 😉
My journey began just before sunset, which is around 9pm in summer. As I look forward to a comfortable rest for 8 hours, my mind was anticipating my next adventure, keeping me awake for short episodes.
I was awaken by the bright flashlight, and shortly after I reached out for my passport from my pocket for inspection.
New item on my bucket list: Crossing a border without leaving my seat.
I arrived in Copenhagen at 6am on a bright and sunny morning. On the contrary, I felt lethargic due to the lack of sleep. I only had 2 hours to check in to the Airbnb, wash up and prepare for the arrival of my dearly missed cycling buddy. Its been over a year since we met while I was Leaping in America. She had the whole day planned out & I was more than willing to ditch my sleep for this day in the city of cyclists.
The view from the apartment. Gorgeous ay?
Camilla(spelt correctly this time) was just on time and I honestly liked the bike she was on. Neat & Classic. I found a bike, not as beautiful from the app which I downloaded last night. The price was slightly higher than I expected, but definitely cheaper than buying a bike for the day.
We cycled across a bridge to a small neighbourhood to have our morning fuel, also known as coffee in some parts of the world.
I finished it before finding out its name
As we cycled on the streets, I noticed that the cycling lanes & traffic indications for cyclists were quite comprehensive. I find it to be the best travel option for a small city like Copenhagen.
We were fortunate to have good weather throughout the day and I came to learn that the weather isn’t very forgiving here, even during summer.
Many locals went outdoors to cherish it by laying on the grass. Truly blessed to be at the right place at the right time.
I was brought to a “less touristy” park and we decided to have a short chat. Ive always loved to take the road less traveled & visit the ‘underrated’ areas while travelling and I am thankful to have a cycling buddy to bring me around 🙂
Denmark is known for its liquorice, and it comes in various types, including salty ones. Camilla prepared a few of it, and I was really looking forward. I tried liquorice for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by its unique taste.
Just peace & quiet while chewing on liquorice
As they say, do as the locals do. I am definitely trying out a local dish. Lunch arrived early thanks to my rumbling stomach which was made clear to my cycling buddy 😉
Rye bread with raw Salmon & Herring (YUMMY)
We headed to Rundetaarn, a tower that was built in the 17th century. Ive always believed old is gold but they are rarely similar.
We had to climb up the spiral slope to get a clear perspective on life.
Did I make it clear enough?
We headed to Tivoli, a small theme park suitable for all ages.
Luck was on my side yet again. We were both granted a free entry, thanks to her Dad whom I got to meet. It was a pleasure speaking to him, and I got to experienced speaking to someone who is way taller than myself.
Clear skies ahead
The dinner looks great & tastes even better. Too bad I didn’t get a clear picture of it.
The plate was filled with: fried Fish with freshly peeled shrimps & Caviar, served with a generous amount of greens. Are you drooling yet?
Although we only spent a semester to get to know each other, I learnt that time is not a variable for true friendship. As we spent the day together, there were plenty of experiences to reminisce.
It was a memorable day for me and I felt truly blessed to have the day planned.
I am glad to make it to this part of the globe. Looking forward to the next adventure. Takk 🙂

Till we meet again, my dear cycling buddy 😉
