Sol-O-slo

As the sun sets in Copenhagen, a slight drizzle paid me a visit as I stood beneath a tree, waiting for the bus to arrive to transport me to Oslo, Norway. This would be the last Scandinavian country on my list.

It dawned on me that I would be travelling solo from this point. Funny how you can just switch the first 2 letters of Oslo to describe my current state. OH WELL, yet another gentle message from the universe 😉

Seven hours later, my empty stomach gave a signal and I woke up just in time to get breakfast. Everything around me came to a halt….
Here I am in a new place, alone, struggling to keep myself alert while doing math in my head to figure out the price of the food using a currency tucked in my backpack while deciding if I wanted a wrap or a burger.

“Does the burger come with a meal?” I asked the waiter as I stared into the foreign currency in my hands.
“Yes of course, it comes with a drink too. Just grab one from the fridge”, replied the waiter. The food arrived a few minutes later & it all went down without much thought.

My next task was to navigate to the Airbnb which was located on a small hillside town. It was supposed to be a short train ride(17 mins to be exact) but guess what?
The train service was down. To be specific, only 2 train services was down on that particular day.

I get excited when these things happen(NO Sarcasm here), as it leads me to tread unconventional paths in life(which I am secretly used to). Thanks to Google and my responsive host, I took the scenic bus ride, my eyes glued to the window, staring into the beauty of “nature made structures.”

A summer morning requires a sweater over here. I wonder how it feels to wake up on a winter morning.

As I stepped into the cosy home filled with strangers, I realised I was a tad too early so my room wasn’t cleaned yet. I went upstairs to the living room and waited on the sofa while observing my surroundings with my mind still in a daze(Why didn’t I get coffee!?)
There were plenty of books and magazines laying around. My arm went on autopilot and the next thing I remembered was flipping the pages of a magazine.

I was showed to my room a few moments later by my host, an American lady with no signs of the European accent. I took a really short nap afterwards, feeling clueless as I made no plans for the day.

After a quick change of clothing, I headed to “Vigelandsparken,” a sculpture park with a name I still can’t pronounce.

The photos I took might be flagged as “nudity” to some viewers, so google it at your discretion & you’ll know what I mean 😉

After a calming walk in the park, I visited the city for lunch and my mind recalled that I am left with just 1 more city before heading home. In other words, it is high time that I get souvenirs for my LOVED ones 🙂

After getting my hands full with shopping bags,(no snacks I promise) I decided to head  back to ‘my cosy home’ to pack the only cabin backpack for the morning flight to avoid any pre-flight panic(speaking from experience mmhmm)

As I hopped on the train to the airport, I got reminded of the Norwegian sweet roll “Skolebrød” thanks to a Norwegian buddy whom I didn’t get to meet as he was out of the city. Just when I started to drool, the destination arrived.(Perfect timing!)
As I stepped into the airport, a small cafe caught my attention and I scanned the menu and a wide grin in the form of Skolebrød appeared on my face.

~NOr-WAY Im gonna forget to try this “Skolebrød”  😀 ~

Goodbye Oslo,  I will visit again to marvel at your Northern Lights.

Q: Why must all good things come to an end?
A: To make way for better things ahead.

Till the next adventure!
